A loan of $15,000 helps an SC-based family business invest in equipment, inventory and marketing to grow jobs for IDD individuals.

Brian's story
I started this family business with a promise: to build a future where our neurodiverse daughter and others like her could grow, contribute, and be valued. When she was diagnosed with mild intellectual disability, dyspraxia, apraxia of speech, and ADHD, our family realized how important it was to create meaningful employment opportunities for her and for others like her in our community.
We sat down as a family and discussed what type of business we wanted to start and the answer came quickly: it had to be something we believed in, something natural, and something we could build together as a family. We've always loved the beach and surfing so bringing that inspiration into our products felt right from the beginning.
We created Sea Soap Co around three core commitments: Clean, natural products made without synthetics or harsh chemicals; Sustainable practices, from recycled packaging to compostable materials; and Inclusive employment, offering supportive jobs for individuals with IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) to thrive.
Our mission is to change the way people perceive individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and deliver thoughtfully crafted products for our customers. Sea Soap Co started as a business and has become a movement toward a world where people of all abilities are valued, seen, and celebrated.
