El Exito De San Francisco Group's story
59-year-old Rosalina, a proud married mother of 4 children who range in age from 15 to 38, has 5 grandchildren. Her husband drives a three-wheeled taxi/tuk-tuk.
For 27 years, Rosalina has cooked and sold by custom order her delicious regional meals on weekdays. Her mother helps her cook and deliver the meals. Her goal is to open a convenience store, and this is why she requests her first Kiva loan. She would like to buy basic items like beverages, soups, rice, beans and sugar.
Rosalina is the President of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “El Exito de San Francisco” in the department/state of Suchitepequez. There are six other women in the group who have tortilla shops, sell regional snack foods and manage convenience stores. Many are like Rosalina, who only attended school for six years and so they benefit greatly from monthly educational training, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education and healthcare. Recent topics for the training have been about wise use of loans and the dangers of over-indebtedness. Other topics are about health, family, women and business. Another essential part of the program are bi-monthly visits by a traveling nurse who offers all kinds of exams, consults and family planning. The ladies appreciate having access to healthcare because it is challenging to access healthcare where they live.
Thank you, Kiva lenders, for your kindness in funding these loans!
