Originally from Bakersfield, California, Paul will follow his passions for market solutions and global engagement to Mexico, where he will work with Sistema Biobolsa, Frogtek, and Union Regional de Huatusco. Paul has traveled extensively, working and studying in Beijing, China and Paris France, and spending significant time in Peru, his parents’ homeland. Paul graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in International Relations before spending three years at a high-growth professional services startup founded with the ambitious goal of rationalizing the exploding, inefficient marketplace for intellectual property. There, Paul developed a deep appreciation for the power of technology to harness ever-growing streams of data and distill them into actionable insights at speed and scale. Paul strongly believes that social mobility and a level playing field are absolutely critical to fair societies, locally and globally. He also believes that a great number of the world’s problems can be solved, slowly and through the dedication of capable, creative and hardworking people, by empowering the marginalized without fundamentally changing the incentive structures of free markets. Paul can’t wait to begin his experience as a Kiva Fellow, a first chapter in what he hopes will be a long and rewarding journey in social entrepreneurship.
