A loan helped to purchase more charcoal to increase her business.

Hawa's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 35-year-old Hawa from Blama Road branch. She is a married businesswoman with three children between the ages of 4 and 17 years old. All are currently attending school. She started this business to take care of her family.

Hawa runs a retail business and sells charcoal to her customers around the community. She has been in this business for the past 11 years. Hawa says that her challenge is the increase in the price of transportation.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase more charcoal to increase her business. Hawa says that the extra income from this loan will help to take care of her family. In the future, she would like to expand to a large scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
